Amy Kight

Chief Executive Officer

  • Amy Kight serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, bringing over 35 years of experience in animal and wildlife care to her role. A dedicated member of the organization for more than two decades, Ms. Kight has held multiple leadership positions within the nonprofit, including Director of Education, Director of Animal Care, and Executive Director.

    Appointed CEO in 2024, Ms. Kight has played a pivotal role in shaping the Sanctuary’s long-term vision and sustainability, successfully leading a multimillion-dollar capital campaign and years-long endeavor to purchase, develop, and relocate to the organization’s new 19.4-acre Jupiter Farms property. Ms. Kight also ensured the longevity of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary by securing an endowment fund to support the nonprofit’s mission well into the future.

    Ms. Kight holds multiple professional certifications, including Florida Animal Control Officer, Chemical Capture, and is an internationally certified Wildlife Rehabilitator. She is also a graduate of the 2024 Leadership Palm Beach County program.

Heather Johnston, D.V.M.

Chief of Veterinary Medicine & Conservation

  • Dr. Johnston became the Chief of Veterinary Medicine & Conservation at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in July, 2024. She started working with wildlife rehabilitation through an osprey reintroduction program in 1992 and remain involved with a variety of wildlife programs until graduated from Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.   She is  a member of the American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians, Wildlife Disease Association, American Association of Zoo Veterinarians,  Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and Association of Avian Veterinarians. Dr. Johnston has long supported Busch Wildlife Sanctuary and its mission since moving to Florida in 2004, both volunteering her time and skills in the wildlife’s rehabilitation clinic and as a member of the Board of Directors from 2004 - 2024.

Christen Mason

  • Christen Mason first became involved with Busch Wildlife Sanctuary as a volunteer in 2004. In 2005 she was hired as an education staff member and since then she has served in several capacities including animal care, education director and hospital assistant. Christen’s background is in invasive species biology and she has spent more than a decade working on Everglades restoration and monitoring projects. Prior to recently returning to Busch Wildlife as the Operations Director, she spent her time as a senior scientist with the South Florida Water Management District supervising restoration projects, analyzing data and conducting plant monitoring across more than 1.5 million acres of the Everglades system.

Lisa Wynne

Chief Philanthropy Officer

  • Lisa Wynne serves as Chief Philanthropy Officer at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, where she oversees the organization’s comprehensive fundraising strategy and advancement operations. Since joining the Sanctuary in 2018 as Assistant Director and later serving as Development Director, Ms. Wynne has played a key role in expanding philanthropic support and strengthening the organization’s long-term sustainability.

    In her role, Ms. Wynne is responsible for developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives that support the Sanctuary’s mission of wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, and education. She leads all aspects of philanthropy including major gifts, foundation and corporate partnerships, special events, donor stewardship, and planned giving. She also oversees grant administration, ensuring compliance, reporting, and alignment between funded projects and organizational priorities.

    With more than 20 years of experience working with mission-driven nonprofit organizations, Ms. Wynne brings extensive expertise in nonprofit administration, development strategy, and organizational planning. She works closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors on strategic planning initiatives, fundraising policy, and long-term institutional growth. Her work has helped strengthen donor engagement, expand community partnerships, and secure critical funding for capital projects, programmatic initiatives, and operational needs.

    Ms. Wynne holds a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston.

Rebecca Reid

Education & Community Outreach Director

  • Ms. Reid has a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University, a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems, and is a Florida Master Naturalist. She has been involved with the Sanctuary for many years and has been the Education Director at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary since 2016.
