Brown Thrasher
Brown Trasher
The Brown Thrasher is a striking bird known for its rich, rusty-brown plumage and bold, dark streaks on its chest. It’s often seen foraging on the ground, using its long, curved bill to sift through leaf litter for insects. Despite its vibrant appearance, this bird is skilled at staying hidden in dense shrubs. The Brown Thrasher is also an accomplished vocalist, capable of singing over 1,000 different song variations. As the only thrasher species found east of Texas, it’s a unique sight in our sanctuary.
This bird came to our hospital as a nestling. Despite intensive care from hospital staff, this bird did not develop properly and even as an adult, is only partially flighted.
Our mission to rescue and rehabilitate sick and injured animals is supported by your donations.
