Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake
Pygmy Rattlesnakes (venomous) are among the smallest rattlesnake species, with adults typically measuring between 15 to 24 inches in length. While pygmy rattlesnakes possess a rattle at the end of their tails like other rattlesnake species, their rattle is quite small and produces only a faint buzzing sound. Their subtle rattle and diminutive size, coupled with their cryptic coloration, allow them to conceal themselves effectively in the pine flatwoods, scrublands, and marsh edges.
