Florida Pine Snake
Florida pine snakes are known for their striking light-colored body with dark blotches or stripes running along its length. This pattern helps pine snakes camouflage in the pine uplands they inhabit.
These snakes are proficient burrowers and spend much of their time underground. They use their powerful bodies and specialized scales to excavate tunnels in sandy soil, where they seek refuge from predators and extreme temperatures.
These snakes are among the largest snake species native to the southeastern United States. Adults can reach lengths of up to 6 feet or more.
