Roseate Spoonbill
Roseate Spoonbill
Found in Florida's wetlands, the Roseate Spoonbill is a stunning wading bird known for its distinctive, spoon-shaped bill and bright pink feathers. When feeding, it uses its unique bill to sweep through shallow waters, capturing small fish, insects, and crustaceans. Like flamingos, they owe their pink coloration to the foods they consume. These animals contain carotenoid pigments that gradually tint their feathers pink.
This spoonbill is not flighted due to an old elbow injury.
