Eastern Screech Owl
The Eastern screech owl is the smallest species of owl in Florida. These pint sized birds conceal themselves in trees and shrubs in suburban areas and parks. Their amazing camouflage, small size, and ability to sit extremely still makes them very difficult to spot. They are much more likely to be detected by their call, rather than by sight. Screech owls make a variety of vocalizations including an even-pitched trill and a shrill descending whinny.
The owl that you see on exhibit has a wing injury and is unable to fly.
